They carved their paths to great schools; the post college experience was a bit rocky for both but now at 40 and 43 they are successful in their chosen careers -- and I might add those careers in no way match what they studied in college! Twas the way my husband and I were raised and it was a pretty good example. My younger son is passing it forward with his two children (older one remains single; his chosen path).Patricia Crosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07409717475268593383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-192084917303316514.post-16663277858267105442019-03-21T23:29:41.445-04:002019-03-21T23:29:41.445-04:00As a college counselor who is watching her son fin...As a college counselor who is watching her son finish his senior year at a high school we share, I know exactly what you mean! Maybe our kids absorbed what they heard and saw us sharing with so many kids over the years that they don't need step by step guidance. My son didn't even let me see his common app essay until he had submitted it, but he still managed to win a POSSE scholarship to Northwestern without any editing from me (or anyone). I only have one, so this year will never be repeated. I miss him already! It is hard to take the back seat initially, but so rewarding to see them take the lead and become independent college students as well.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01449564320637765036noreply@blogger.com
